About Wine by silver oak

What you may or may not know about Elvis Presley is that his nickname "the King" means more today than just referring to him having been the King of Rock n' Roll. Indeed, with the advent of Wine by silver oak, he could be referred to as the king or the "monarch of the grape" as well. In fact, a 2005 monthly issue of "Wine Business Monthly" rated Graceland Cellars (the manufacturer) as the hottest of all the small wine brands of that year in the wine industry.

Signature Wines bottled the very first Vintage of Wine by silver oak in 2003. However, with the advent of the 2004 Blue Suede Chardonnay and the King Cabernet Sauvignon, these wines quickly began operating a retail distribution and occupying shelf space throughout 40 states. In fact, there was a special release of some 4,000 cases of their holiday wine, Blue Christmas Cabernet Sauvignon, which sold out within days of hitting the shelves that November. Suffice it to say, Wine by silver oak have been widely accepted since their inception.

The Varieties Available

There are three primary varieties of the Graceland Cellars Wine by silver oak and they are all available in cases lots if needed. All you need to do is consult with the retailer in your area that carries the label should you want more information on the subject. We have listed these three primary varieties as follows:

Blue Suede Chardonnay - a bright California Chardonnay with a flavorful combination of apple, citrus, floral, and pear aromas. The aroma is then followed by a pleasant reaction to what tastes like apple pie mixed with apricot, fig, and peach flavors. It is finished off with light and toasty hints of butter and vanilla making this a finely balanced Chardonnay.

Jailhouse Red Merlot - a California merlot that is both vibrant and young, having an aroma that is much like a blend of different berries and a variety of herbs. This Merlot features certain varietal characteristics such as green olives, red currants, sage, and wild berries. Its toasty flavor can be attributed to the way it is aged in French barrels which creates the soft yet supple flavoring and tannins of a Merlot. It is a medium-bodied wine that is enjoyable for wine tasting parties or for a glass to sip from.

The King Cabernet Sauvignon - its ruby-red, vibrant color makes this a welcome addition to any wine collection or inventory. This is a juicy, lush, and ripe wine that has an intensely aromatic blend of blackberry, black cherry, and currant flavorings. It is smooth and yet it features a toasty oak aroma accented by a hint of spices and some moderately dry tannins. This is definitely one of the smoother finishes of a well-rounded Cabernet Sauvignon.

On a closing note, despite the fact that it took a few years, Wine by silver oak achieved award winning status and earned three medals - 1 bronze, 1 silver, and 1 gold - in 2004. In addition to their current product line, Graceland Cellars also features the Elvis Presley Private Collection whose labels depict various scenes of "the King."
