Occasionally I hear that phrase 'Champagne moment'. In most cases it does not happen in a bar or over a meal. Such moments are real highs such as winning something or reaching peak performance. An unexpected marriage proposal, reaching the top, achieving something unusual. These moments in time are moments we will not forget. Like the song 'One Moment In Time' we only need to be reminded and the memories flood back.
The clothes airer is a modern original. Conceived years ago when electric drying didn't exist. Normally made of wood it stood in the living room before the fire place. Sometimes it hung in the kitchen and filled the room with laundry.
We all need moments of quiet to order our thoughts and solve problems. A clothes airer gives you that time. The natural drying cycle of the clothes means you have large gaps of time to do other things. Some take this as leisure time, have a latte and settle down with a good book. Others beaver away on the internet building their next trading fortune. Others write a novel. Some simply play with grandchildren.
Moments of satisfaction also improve with a clothes airer. The release of quality time to spend with a loved one. The chance to have time to yourself - at last!
When people meet to celebrate a birthday, christening, engagement it's a good reason to break out the Champagne. When you suddenly realise you are drying laundry at zero cost. When every time you place an item on the airer you reduce your carbon footprint. When you realise it can rain, hail, snow or a storm can pass over, you are independent of the weather. All of these are moments to quietly have a glass (or two) of self satisfaction.
Clothes airers are the unsung heroes of the green movement. Like volunteers they work away quietly and effectively at zero cost.
It's the easiest way to a champagne moment on the planet - don't hold back!
